Please wear comfortable shoes and school appropriate dress. First Stop: Hogle Zoo - Cost is $21.95 (Pay at the Zoo) Lunch on your own at the Zoo (you can bring a lunch if you like) Second Stop: Loveland Living Planet Aquarium - Cost is $5.00 (Please pay this at UHS Finance Office only on Thursdays or Tuesday 8-noon) Third Stop: If we have time, Delta Stone products in Heber. Want to help at the Vernal Rodeo? The rodeo has asked Uintah FFA to help with feeding the contestants before the rodeo. You must be at Western Park (inside, by the office) at 4:30 pm. We need 4-5 FFA members. You will get in the Rodeo for free the night you help. The first to register will be selected to help. You must be registered for Summer Ag/FFA to help.

SAE Grants: SAE For All Program Do any of you members have a cool SAE project idea but not the funds to get it off the ground? This program is for students’ who don’t already have an SAE project so are starting fresh with a NEW SAE project. You have the opportunity to possibly receive grant money up to $500, depending on the need of the project. This SAE for All application must be filled out by the student who is applying for the grant. All applications are due on Friday, October 14th, 2022 at 11:59 PM for Fall funding. 2022 Uintah Summer Ag Tour Information - Departing UHS Student Parking Lot at 7:00 AM! July 27, 2022. Please arrive at UHS student parking lot no later than 6:50AM! Wholesale Florist - Learn about the wholesale floral business, tour the facilities and coolers. Second Stop: Young Living Farm & Show horses - A large oil producer. We will tour the farm, distillery and horses. Third Stop: IFA South Region Mill, one of Utah's largest mills. They process over 100 rail cars of feed each week. 2021 Uintah County Farm Field Day Eligibility: 18 Uintah FFA members are needed to help. Why these expectations? To help at Farm Field Day is a Privilege! Our expectations are to ensure this opportunity goes to our most involved members who meet eligibility. To participate in Farm Field Day to must meet all of the following: 1. Be an active FFA member - attended service projects, chapter meetings and state convention. 2. Have no F's from last completed trimester or this trimester. 3. Be able to miss the entire school day on March 30. You must attend the entire day and stay with your assigned group (job) throughout the event. 4. Enrolled in or completed an Agricultural Science class this school year. 5. Report to Western Park at 8:00 AM on March 30, and stay until excused. 6. Have no attendance or grade problems at school during the current trimester. (No Saturday schools). 7. Actually have an SAE and have recent records of it in your AET record book.

FFA SNOW COLLEGE Career Development Events
October 9 is the Snow College FFA Career Development Events in Ephraim. The following FFA contests will be held there: State Contest for range, soils, agronomy. Practice contests for livestock evaluation, horse evaluation, Ag. business, Ag. mechanics, Floriculture, Vet. Science and Dairy cattle evaluation. If you hope to go, you must first sign-up with a CDE team, (you can only compete in one contest at Snow, because they all happen at the same time), you must not have failed any classes last trimester or be earning a failing grade or “U’s” first trimester (a teacher signature sheet will be required), you must be enrolled (actually on the roll) in one Ag class this school year, you must have paid FFA dues, have practiced with your team, and paid the cost to attend ($5). All teams are limited to four members however we can have more than one team in most events. Team registrations will be sent in on Sept 20.

Anyone interested in being part of the State Champion Uintah FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team? We need team members. We must have six top individuals to compete with us at National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY this October! If you are at all interested please contact Mr. Wilson at once. The top six individuals (top scores, presentations etc.) Will go to compete! This is a great chance for you to get involved, learn a skill that will benefit you the rest of your life and travel to Louisville, KY. The top six receive $400 to help pay travel costs. This contest does take much effort and time, but in my opinion is one of the most useful for life that FFA offers.

Uintah FFA has an opening on our Nursery/Landscape team that will be competing at National FFA Convention this fall in Louisville, KY. The application is available here. Tryouts for the open position will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, June 11 at UHS Ag Sciences classroom. The Ag Classes are all over full. If you have already had a particular Ag. class or did not pass an ag class you will have to take something else. Serious Ag students with active FFA membership, and SAE projects get priority for Ag class enrollment.

COUNTRY EXPLOSION Parking Fundraiser!
Uintah FFA along with Uintah Band will be parking cars at the Explosion. Three to Five Uintah FFA members and parent volunteers are needed to help various shifts Thursday through Saturday, August 16-18. Shifts will be during these hours: Thursday: 4:00 pm - 11:00 PM, Friday: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Thursday and Friday UHS Band Director, Mr. Gibson will be overseeing the task. Mr. Wilson will oversee Saturday but needs a couple of parents to help because he cannot be there the entire time!
Members who help will receive a pass to get into Country Explosion for one day-only after they have worked their complete shift.
Members will be paid in the form of a credit to their FFA account at an hourly rate for the hours they work. We do not know how much per hour that will be at this time.
We need to have at least two parent/adult helpers for Saturday. Between the parents and myself we will split up the time we have to be there.

This is an opportunity to make money to pay for FFA trips, jackets and such. This opportunity will go to the first FFA members who contact Mr. Wilson!
FFA Poinsettia Planting August 8, 6:00 PM at UHS Greenhouse. Please come in and help plant the rooted cuttings. A good way to learn about these plants and become familar with our greenhouse operation. We will be done by 8:00 PM.

Summer Ag Tour, Pizza and Ice Cream!!!!
Our first of two Summer Ag Field Trips! On Wednesday, June 27 we are touring Simplot Phosphate Mine. This is an excellent tour. We are meeting at Uintah High Student Parking lot at 9:00 AM We will arrive back at the high school at or before 1:00 PM Pizza and Ice Cream will be waiting for us at the high school when we finish the tour! Please let us know you are coming so we have enough hard hats and food! You must be registered as a Summer Ag student with Mr. Wilson and completed the RSVP form to attend!
Utah FFA Area VI contest is January 24th in Roosevelt! Only individuals competing will get to attend! Teams competing are: Parli Pro, Prepared Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Creed Speaking!
**Third year FFA members (seniors) who want to receive the Utah FFA Degree at our upcoming State Convention, must have their record books up to date by January 10, State FFA Degree Applications are due at Area Contest on January 24th! Those wanting to apply for a Proficiency Award must also have their record books up to date and a draft of the proficiency application done by January 12th. All proficiency award applications must go to Area Contest on January 24th.
