Poultry Evaluation

The Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE) is a competition for FFA members focusing on the poultry industry, including production, processing, and marketing of chickens, turkeys, eggs, and processed poultry products. Students learn about poultry selection, management, evaluation, and grading of various poultry products.

Students develop skills in selecting live poultry, evaluating egg-type hens, and grading poultry carcasses.  Students in a team of four will grade and evaluate eggs externally and internally for defects per USDA standards.  Participants will also learn to identify processed cuts of meat from chickens and turkeys.
